How to get a certified weight ticket

  1. Pull all the way onto the scale. Every axle group on its platform, wheels straight, engine running; wait for the attendant or the app to confirm the weigh.
  2. Pay and keep the ticket. At CAT Scale a first weigh is $15.25 (their FAQ, read Oct 22, 2026); other operators set their own price, so ask before you weigh.
  3. Fix the load, then reweigh. At CAT Scale a reweigh is $5.25 when it is the same tractor and trailer, on the same scale, within 24 hours, with the full-price ticket presented; after a full weigh and two reweighs the manager may waive further reweigh charges until you are legal. Other operators have their own reweigh rules.
  4. California is different. A California Weighmaster Certificate (for loads paid by weight or DMV registration) costs $30.50 for a first weigh and $10.50 for a reweigh at CAT Scale; CAT Scale’s standard California ticket is $15.25 and $5.25. Your state may require a licensed public weighmaster for tickets used in a sale.

Not public, listed so you do not drive to them

Real weighing sites in the directory that are not a scale you can turn up and use: state and DOT enforcement stations, and private site scales (landfill, mill and plant scale houses). Open map data pins tagged private, industrial or with no access information stay off the map for the same reason.
